About the event

Through the stories of seven major but often overlooked figures, this documentary (2025, directed by Hinde Boujemaa and produced by ATUGE , 70mn, English subtitles) pays tribute to a generation of great men who, in the early decades following Tunisia's independence, helped lay the foundations of the modern state.

These "State Builders" worked with passion and determination, often in challenging circumstances, to create a country that has been among the most prosperous in the region. The film highlights their decisive contributions in fields as diverse as infrastructure, telecommunications, finance, energy, agriculture, and industry.

In addition to recounting their paths and concrete achievements, the film highlights the obstacles they overcame, without ever letting difficulties deter them from their mission. “State Builders” is also a message of hope and inspiration for younger generations: it reminds us that with vision, audacity, rigor, and hard work, it is possible to transform a country.
