About the event

Alyssa, a headstrong 19-year-old, and her friend Mehdi, a reserved 23-year-old, lean on their imagination to cope with an unpromising reality. When they stumble upon a competition in southern Tunisia that could be their ticket out, they hit the road together, deterred by whatever stands in their way.


Director Amel Gellaty pulls back the curtain on a rarely seen corner of Tunisia, weaving surreal visual touches throughout her debut that elevate and illuminate daily life. Eya Bellagha and Slim Baccar share an effortless chemistry as Alyssa and Mehdi, naturally embodying both the playful back and forth of their bond and their mutual desire to shake off the duties and constraints keeping their dreams at bay.


Their gloriously unruly road trip to Djerba unfolds with a gentle comedic sensibility and a mesmerizing indie soundtrack rooted in the region. Bursting with invention, heart, and vitality, where the wind comes from celebrates Tunisian…
